Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Plan Approval

(1) Write a description of what you plan on doing for your independent study component.
My brother bought a new house and wanted to touch up and paint the walls so I'll be helping them do that. I will also be designing a patio.

(2) Describe in detail how you think your plan will meet the 30 hours work requirement.

I plan on meeting my 30 hours by making sketches of what the patio could look like. I will then show those sketches to my mentor, Rey, and he will give me feedback on it. When the sketches are complete, I will start putting the patio together. This includes painting, going out and looking for furniture, and then putting all the pieces together. 

(3) How does your independent study component relate to your working EQ?  

My EQ is, “What is most essential in designing a room?” and the best way to figure out the answer to this is to go through the process of designing a room.  I’ll try to take the same steps interior designers make when they have to decorate, and that would help me get the same experience they go through. I would even have my parents be my “clients” where I would have to get things approved by them and make sure they like all the sketches.
